Creating swimming superheroes
Mighty Splash has taught over 1,000 children and adults to swim, from nervous first-time swimmers to those looking to perfect their technique, and is constantly evolving its offering to meet demand.
Founded in 2012, the swim school offers an inclusive and welcoming environment, encouraging all ages and abilities to become swimming superheroes with lessons designed to be fun.
The school runs across several locations, including Prior Park College in Bath, Downside School in Radstock, and from its headquarters at Fosse Way School in Radstock.
At Fosse Way, Mighty Splash offers swimming lessons capped at just four swimmers – ideal for youngsters who thrive in smaller groups, require more support or are seeking a more tailored experience.
A unique benefit for Mighty Splash swimmers is access to free swim sessions outside of their regularly scheduled lessons, enabling them to practise and enjoy the skills they have learnt in class.
New baby and preschool swim classes
In September, the swim school will be launching new baby and preschool lessons, catering for newborns through to children aged four years.
Classes will be split across several stages, including baby classes for 0–8 months and 6–12 months, a toddler class for 9–18 months, SwimTots for 18 months to 3 years, and a Preschool class for 3 to 4 year olds.
Each stage is built around what children are developmentally ready for, moving from parent-supported water confidence work in the earliest sessions towards more independent movement and early stroke skills by the time children reach preschool age.
Parents and carers are required to get into the pool alongside babies and toddlers up to preschool age, when children begin swimming independently alongside their instructor.

Mighty Splash is also introducing swim parties, offering exclusive use of the swim school’s warm teaching pool at Fosse Way School.
Several pool party options are available, including toys and floats parties and mermaid parties.
Mermaid parties are led by an experienced mermaid instructor and offer a selection of mermaid-themed games, floats, activities and mermaid accessories, including tails for youngsters to channel their inner mermaid.
Swim parties can also include use of St Peter’s Church hall, adjoining the Fosse Way swimming pool, offering families a complete birthday party solution.
“We’re always looking at new ways to evolve and meet the needs of local families, and our new mermaid parties are a great example of that. They’re a magical experience for children, and such a fun way for the whole family to spend time together in the water.”“We’d love for people to come down to our open day on 22 August to see the pool, meet the team and find out more about everything we’ve got on offer – and, of course, enjoy a host of fun games and activities.”
